the quaking bog
¿¿what is the quaking bog??
- mysterious
- *wet
- acidic
- spongey sphagnum moss scattered with trees, shrubs and bug eating sundews
- the last remaining bit of an ecosystem that was common in this area pre-colonization
**parking tips at the bottom of this caption!
on sunday morning and tuesday afternoon, we’ll gather near the bog and discuss questions like:
- what do we know about the history of this land?
- what names, characteristics, stories, and medicines are associated with this plant?
- what memories do you have with this plant?
- how have the forces of oppressive systems (like capitalism and settler colonialism) tried to distort our connection and responsibility to land? what can we do about it?
- and more ✨
the conversations will be shaped by the collective knowledge and curiosities that folks bring!
**we will gather near the small parking lot next to the bog. BUT spots in that lot are pretty limited! if you’re in a car, consider getting there early and parking in the bigger lots by wirth lake or the eloise butler wildflower garden. both are about a .5 mile walk from the bog lot, and real nice walks.
PARKING:
